The Member representing the constituency yesterday led a delegation of key stakeholders and youths from Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam on an inspection tour of the ongoing Gum–Gagdi to Dengi road project in Kanam Local Government Area, as contractors formally resumed work on site.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, the lawmaker disclosed that the visit was aimed at assessing the pace and quality of work being carried out, while reaffirming his commitment to ensuring timely delivery of the strategic road project.
Visible Progress on Ground
Despite operating with limited resources, the contractors have reportedly made commendable progress. According to updates from the site, the graded stretch now extends from DUL in Bauchi State to Gum-Gagdi, marking a significant milestone in the execution phase.
In addition, seventeen (17) culverts have been completed to reinforce drainage and structural stability, while four bridges are currently under construction at critical points along the corridor.
The inspection tour provided stakeholders and community youths the opportunity to evaluate the scope of work firsthand and engage with project handlers on timelines and expectations.
Strategic Importance to the Region
The Gum–Gagdi to Dengi road project is widely regarded as a transformative infrastructure intervention. Upon completion, it is expected to enhance access and connectivity between Kanam Local Government Area and neighbouring states, thereby improving the movement of goods, agricultural produce, and essential services.
