Former Plateau State Governor and Senator, Dr. Jonah David Jang, has dismissed reports claiming that he called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to resign from office.
In a press statement dated January 12, 2026, and signed by his Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, Senator Jang described the reports circulating in some print and online media outlets as misleading and taken out of context.
According to the statement, at no point during the PDP stakeholders’ meeting did the former governor ask Governor Mutfwang to step down. Rather, his remarks were directed at politicians who abandon their political parties to join others, a practice he criticised in general terms.
The statement stressed that Senator Jang’s comments were misrepresented, creating a false impression that he personally targeted the Plateau State governor.
Senator Jang therefore urged the people of Plateau State to disregard the misleading reports and avoid unnecessary political tension.
He also called on residents to continue supporting Governor Caleb Mutfwang as he carries out his responsibility of leading the state based on the mandate freely given to him by the people.
The former governor emphasised the need for responsible reporting and constructive political engagement in the interest of peace and development in Plateau State.
