The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered three locally made firearms and ammunition in separate operations.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, in a statement on Wednesday, said the arrests were made as part of the Command’s ongoing crackdown on crime across the state.
According to the statement, on August 4, 2025, officers from Kaduna-Vom Division, while on a stop-and-search operation at about 9:00 p.m., arrested 24-year-old Mark Ibrahim Dalyop of Sabon Layi, Kuru. He was reportedly found in possession of two locally made rifles while riding a motorcycle from Vom to Kuru.
In a separate incident, detectives from the Nassarawa Gwong Division, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended Moses Aliyu, 26, of Fwave Chiki, Rayfield, Jos, on August 11, 2025. The suspect was arrested in an uncompleted building at Kwanga, where police recovered a locally fabricated revolver pistol and one 0.9mm live ammunition from him.
The police said both suspects are being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in Plateau State. He warned criminals to desist from illegal activities or leave the state, stressing that the police will not relent in bringing offenders to justice.
