Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has sent a strong warning to Victor Osimhen, stressing the importance of teamwork in the national side.

Mikel Obi made the remarks while speaking on his podcast about a tense on-field incident involving Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.

The confrontation occurred during Nigeria’s 4–0 win over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen was visibly angry after Lookman failed to release a pass during the match.

The striker later signalled to the bench, demanding to be substituted.

Mikel Obi criticised Osimhen for his reaction and body language on the pitch.

“The part where he stopped playing, running and making efforts; that part I don’t like,” Mikel said.
