Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, has said Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to speed up development in Plateau State.

Wase made this known while speaking to journalists during a press briefing in Jos ahead of the governor’s formal reception into the APC.

He explained that the governor’s decision was guided by the need to work closely with the Federal Government for the benefit of Plateau people.

According to Wase, aligning with the ruling party at the centre will help the state attract more federal projects and investments.

He said the move is expected to improve road construction, boost job creation, and strengthen security across Plateau State.

Wase noted that the governor’s action shows commitment to unity and cooperation rather than party division.

He described Governor Mutfwang as a calm and people-focused leader who places development and public interest above politics.

The former Deputy Speaker confirmed that the governor resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party in December 2025 before joining the APC in January 2026.

He added that preparations are in top gear for the grand reception of the governor scheduled for January 27 at the Jos Polo Field.

Wase said top national leaders of the APC are expected to attend the event, making it a major political gathering.
