Following his resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former member of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a major political realignment in Plateau State.
Bagos announced his decision in a public statement in which he said his move to the APC was guided by a clear, reform-driven ideology aimed at addressing insecurity and strengthening Nigeria’s economy. He described the moment as timely, declaring that “the time is now” for purposeful and strategic political action.
According to him, his decision to align with the APC is rooted in the party’s national outlook and reform agenda, which he believes offers a stronger platform for delivering good governance and sustainable development to Plateau State and the country at large.
The former lawmaker expressed firm support for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging his commitment to the administration’s efforts at economic reform and national security. He said the president’s vision aligns with his own belief in building a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
Bagos also declared his loyalty to Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, noting that collaboration across party lines is essential for advancing development and stability in Plateau State.
In addition, he pledged support for the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, particularly in advancing key reforms such as state police, local government autonomy, and broader economic restructuring.
He emphasized that these reforms are critical to addressing Nigeria’s security challenges and empowering grassroots governance, which he described as central to long-term national progress.
Bagos, who represented Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly from 2019 to November 2023, said his decision was taken after careful reflection and consultation with stakeholders.
His defection to the APC is expected to reshape political dynamics in Plateau State, as observers anticipate increased momentum for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political analysts view Bagos’s move as a significant boost for the APC in Plateau, given his political experience, grassroots influence, and strong stance on reform-driven governance.
