The former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Fom Gwottson, condemns in the strongest possible terms the unprovoked and gruesome attack on the peaceful people of Bum in Chugwi, Vwang, which occurred at midnight as the new year began.
“This senseless act of violence is heartbreaking and unacceptable. It is deeply troubling that such attacks continue despite repeated warnings and intelligence reportedly circulated ahead of time. Security agencies must act more proactively and decisively to prevent these recurring tragedies.
This is one attack too many. Our hearts are heavy, and we can no longer bear the constant loss of innocent lives and destruction of property. In a single moment, families are shattered, livelihoods destroyed, and communities pushed into years of pain and rebuilding.
To the immediate families of those who lost their lives, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May the Lord grant you comfort, strength, and peace during this difficult time” he said.
He added that government must rise to the occasion, show solidarity with the affected communities, and ensure that urgent support, justice, and lasting security are provided, because the people deserve to feel safe in their own homes.
