The lawmaker representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has successfully scaled another major hurdle in his quest for a third term in the National Assembly after being screened and cleared by the All Progressives Congress.
Rt. Hon. Gagdi disclosed this on Sunday, May 10, 2026, following his appearance before the APC Screening Committee in Abuja, where he formally presented himself to seek the party’s approval to contest again for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency seat.
According to the federal lawmaker, the screening exercise marked a significant milestone in his political journey, noting that he was the first aspirant from Plateau State to be screened for a third-term bid under the ruling party.
The screening panel was chaired by former senator Uche Ekwunife alongside Engineer Angela Obende and other distinguished members of the committee.
Speaking after the exercise, Gagdi expressed appreciation for what he described as the professionalism, warmth, and understanding demonstrated by the committee members during the screening process. He particularly commended the panel for recognising the importance of legislative experience and continuity in governance.
The outspoken lawmaker also used the opportunity to appreciate the people of Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Local Government Areas for their sustained support, trust, and confidence in his leadership over the years.
He reaffirmed his commitment to quality representation, purposeful leadership, and sustained advocacy for the interests of the constituency if given another mandate by the people.
“By the grace of Almighty Allah, and with your continued prayers and support, if elected for a third term, I shall remain committed to purposeful leadership, quality representation, and the advancement of the collective interests of our constituency,” he stated.
Gagdi further assured constituents that he would never take their support and trust for granted, while praying for peace, progress, and development in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi currently serves as a member of the House of Representatives under the platform of the APC and has remained one of the prominent political figures from Plateau State in the National Assembly.
