U.S. Consul General Brandon Hudspeth hosted a special reception welcoming a delegation from the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, highlighting continued collaboration between the United States and Nigeria in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
The delegation’s visit builds on the Cultural Heritage Forward exchange program, an initiative of the U.S. Department of State implemented by the Smithsonian Institution.
The program brings together Smithsonian experts, Nigerian museum professionals, and community-based cultural heritage practitioners to exchange knowledge, expertise, and best practices in the preservation of cultural heritage.
Through the initiative, participants have the opportunity to strengthen professional relationships, share approaches to cultural conservation, and explore sustainable ways of protecting important historical and cultural resources.
The engagement also underscores the importance of collaboration between international cultural institutions and Nigerian practitioners in preserving the country’s rich heritage for future generations.
