The Federal Government has announced the appointment of Prof. Patricia Manko Lar as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja (formerly University of Abuja), as part of a major restructuring effort aimed at strengthening leadership across federal universities.
In a press statement, the government revealed that the entire Governing Council of the university has been dissolved. Senator Lanre Tejuosho, the former Pro-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been appointed as the new Pro-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University.
Prof. Manko Lar will serve as Acting Vice-Chancellor for a six-month tenure. However, she will not be eligible to apply for the permanent position when it becomes available. The restructuring also includes the removal of Prof. Maikudi from his role as Vice-Chancellor.
This initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing governance in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions by ensuring transparency, accountability, and improved educational leadership.
