Tension continues to trail the recently concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State as Senator Diket Plang, alongside several aggrieved aspirants, has formally petitioned the party’s Election Appeal Committee, demanding the outright cancellation of the exercise across the state.
The petition, submitted at Kalwa House in Jos, was jointly backed by prominent APC stakeholders and aspirants including Chris Giwa, Gyang Zi, and I. D. Gyang, among others, who alleged widespread irregularities and manipulation during the conduct of the primaries.

Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved aspirants, Senator Diket Plang described the exercise as a “blackmail of democracy,” insisting that no credible elections were conducted in several parts of the state.
According to him, what was presented to the public as election results were merely fabricated figures allegedly compiled after party members and aspirants had been denied a transparent and participatory process.
The petitioners accused certain party officials of hijacking the process and undermining the democratic principles of fairness, credibility, and inclusiveness expected of an internal party election. They maintained that many delegates and stakeholders were excluded, while procedures outlined in the party’s electoral guidelines were allegedly ignored.
The aggrieved aspirants are therefore calling on the APC leadership to immediately nullify the Plateau primaries and organize fresh elections that would reflect the genuine will of party members in accordance with the party’s constitution and the provisions of Nigerian electoral laws.
Despite their dissatisfaction with the outcome of the exercise, the aspirants reiterated their loyalty and commitment to the APC, stressing that their decision to seek redress through the party’s internal appeal mechanism demonstrates their confidence in the leadership of the party to uphold justice and internal democracy.
Political observers believe the development may further heighten tensions within the Plateau APC ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, especially as stakeholders continue to raise concerns over the credibility of the primaries conducted in parts of the state.

This is so sad… Senator Plang is really loved by his constituents. I pray justice is served.
