The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to youth-centered migration reforms as the country prepares to lead the RABAT PROCESS in 2025.
RABAT PROCESS, also known as the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development, is a regional forum that aims to address migration issues between Africa and Europe.
Dr. Nentawe made this known during a meeting with a delegation from the RABAT PROCESS Secretariat, led by Monica Zanette, Head of the Pan-African Initiative at the ICMPD, in his office in Abuja. “The RABAT PROCESS has been instrumental in reinforcing and strengthening the capacities of our people,” he stated.
As Nigeria readies itself for the Chairmanship of the RABAT PROCESS, Dr. Nentawe emphasized the country’s focus on addressing migration issues affecting young Nigerians, particularly the JAPA Syndrome, which has seen many youths seeking opportunities abroad. “We are ready to champion ambitious programs focusing on youth inclusiveness and tackling migration trends like the JAPA Syndrome,” he said.
Dr. Nentawe highlighted the achievements of Nigerian migrants in various sectors worldwide, underscoring the need for legal migration as a path to global success. “Legal Nigerian migrants continue to excel globally in sports, the economy, healthcare, and education,” he noted. He encouraged Nigerian youth to view themselves as global citizens and take advantage of the opportunities migration can offer.
With Nigeria poised to take on a leading role, Dr. Nentawe assured the delegation of his ministry’s commitment to working with the RABAT PROCESS Secretariat to turn migration into a driver of development. “With the support of the RABAT PROCESS Secretariat, we will ensure that migration becomes a tool for opportunity and sustainable development for all Nigerians,” he emphasized.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership in prioritizing migration as part of Nigeria’s national agenda. “Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, migration remains a priority, and we are committed to using this platform to shape migration policies across Africa,” Dr. Nentawe concluded.
On December 3rd and 4th, Crest Centre for Peace and Social Advancement (CCPSA) had the privilege of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities an event that truly touched our hearts and will remain in our memories for years to come.
These two days were not just about marking a day on the calendar, but about celebrating the resilience, strength, and incredible talents of persons with disabilities. It was a time for all of us to come together in solidarity, to listen, learn, and most importantly, to celebrate the wonderful contributions of individuals who often face unimaginable challenges with unshakable courage and grace.
Day 1: A Day of Joy and Connection at Ram Palm Township Stadium – In Partnership with Dream Africa
The first day of the event set the tone for what would be an unforgettable experience. Over 300 participants—ranging from persons with disabilities to community leaders, friends, and advocates—gathered at Rwang Pam Township Stadium In collaboration with Dream Africa, we created a space where everyone could feel seen, heard, and empowered. The atmosphere was electric with excitement, as people of all backgrounds came together to share in the celebration.
One of the most powerful moments of the day was the para-soccer competition, where athletes showcased not just skill, but sheer determination. It was a heart-pounding reminder that disability doesn’t define potential—it only amplifies it. The competition was followed by a musical performance that left the audience in awe. The talent on display was nothing short of amazing, and we were all reminded that talent knows no bounds.
From the athletes on the field to the performers on stage, it was clear that the day was about far more than just fun. It was about acknowledging the strength and resilience of persons with disabilities and honoring their contributions to society in ways that are often overlooked.
Day 2: Interability Dialogue – Bridging Gaps, Creating Change
The second day took on a more reflective tone but was no less impactful. Held at the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) hall, the Interability Dialogue brought together passionate voices from a range of backgrounds—community leaders, disability advocates, and representatives from organizations committed to creating a more inclusive society.
In this space, we had real conversations about the issues facing persons with disabilities today. We discussed the barriers that continue to limit access to education, employment, and healthcare. But it wasn’t just about talking—it was about taking action. The dialogue reminded us all that we each have a role to play in creating a more accessible and inclusive world. Every individual, and every organization, has the power to advocate for change, challenge misconceptions, and push for policies that truly support people with disabilities.
As the dialogue concluded, the message was clear: this is just the beginning**. The call to action was loud and strong—let’s not wait for change to happen. Let’s be the change, in our communities, our workplaces, and our lives.
A Celebration to Remember: Building a Future Together
As we reflect on the two days of celebration, it’s impossible not to feel deeply moved. This event was more than a celebration—it was a reminder that resilience is a shared experience. We celebrated the strength of the disability community, but we also celebrated all of us coming together to make that strength visible. The feedback we received from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how empowered and inspired they felt. It was clear that this event was not just an occasion, but a turning point—a moment when we all reimagined what a truly inclusive world could look like.
We are proud of what we achieved together, but we know that the work is far from over. CCPSA remains steadfast in its commitment to advocating for the rights, dignity, and empowerment of persons with disabilities. We will continue to raise our voices, push for change, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive.
A Call to Action from Our Executive Director, Amb. Nafisat AbdulAzeez
As we reflect on these moments of joy, connection, and reflection, I, Ambassador Nafisat AbdulAzeez, Executive Director of CCPSA, urge everyone to take the lessons learned from this event and carry them forward. This is a movement that requires all of us—together—united in our pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable world for persons with disabilities.
It’s easy to become passive or think that change is something for others to lead. But the truth is, each of us has a role to play. Whether it’s advocating for accessible spaces, challenging stigma, or simply offering support and understanding to someone with a disability, the smallest actions can create ripple effects that bring about real change.
Let’s not wait for change to happen; let’s be the change. Be the voice that advocates for accessibility, the hands that help break barriers and the heart that welcomes everyone into a truly inclusive world. We can and must do better, and together, we will.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Let’s continue to work towards a future where everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.

The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has advocated for proper activation of Community Policing in Nigeria as a precusor for the establishment of State Police in the country.
Leading a seven-man delegation of heads of security committee members of Nigerian House of Representatives on a four day parliamentary exchange visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Gagdi told their host that state police being practiced in Germany might not be feasible in Nigeria in the near future, because of its susceptibility to abuse by most of the State Governors but opined that taking advantage of the provision for Community Policing encapsulated in the new Police Act of 2020, will serve as a precusor to the establishment of State Police in due course.
The parliamentary exchange visit, facilitated by Konrad Adenauer Stiftfung (KAS), a development partner working with the House of Representatives on security reforms and capacity building, had availed the Nigerian delegation of the opportunity to study the German security architecture.
The four-day visit saw the delegation visiting important security agencies in the Federal Republic of Germany. The delegation visited the German Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Parliamentary Commissioner of the Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Federal and state police headquarters and the Federal Parliament of Germany, amongst others.
In each of the places visited, the host interface with the delegation, giving them insights into the operations of the various agencies and how such ideas can be replicated in legislative processes in Nigeria to strengthen the security architecture of the country.
As a security expert himself, Gagdi had noted the disparities in the workings of security agencies in the two countries, but admitted that the knowledge acquired during the visit has widen their horizons and left them better equipped as members of various security committees of the House of Representatives to fashion out qualitative enactments towards improving security in Nigeria.
The delegation arrived Berlin on the 24th November, 2024 completed its assignment today, 28th November, 2024 and due to return to Nigeria on Friday 29th November, 2024.

Following his donation of 1,000 bags of 25kg Golden fertilizer to farmers in early July, Rt. Hon. Fom Dalyop Gwottson, former Deputy Speaker of Plateau State, has taken his commitment to agricultural development to the next level by sponsoring a groundbreaking training program for over 80 stakeholder farmers in Jos South Local Government Area.
Hon. Gwottson shared his personal experience with the training, having received and put it to practice, citing remarkable results.
“As a commercial farmer, I stopped farming maize years ago due to consistent losses. However, after discovering this organization’s efficient methods, I experimented and saw the impact firsthand. So I decided to sponsor this training to empower our local farmers,” he said.
The training, facilitated by DECAPOLIS Community Development Center in partnership with Equipping Farmers International, combined lecture sessions with hands-on field practicals. Participants were grouped into smaller teams to put their newfound knowledge into practice.
The chief trainer, Mr. Raphael John, highlighted the key areas of focus:
Zero Tillage: Preserving soil health and reducing erosion
Composting: Harnessing organic waste for nutrient-rich fertilizers
Chicken Guano Utilization: Maximizing poultry waste for agricultural benefits.
Mr. Raphael added that DECAPOLIS Community Development Center will continue to mentor and monitor the trainees as they put their new skills into practice.
Mrs. Polina Pwajok, a respected women leader, expressed gratitude, saying, “This training has transformed my farming approach and taught me ways to save money while maximizing space and getting way better harvests in farming. I learned so much and will ensure other women in my community benefit from this knowledge.”
Mr. Simon Choji Banga, another beneficiary, described the training as “enlightening and life-changing,” adding, “I assumed this training was going to be similar to other trainings I’ve gone through in the past, but I am pleasantly surprised that it is very different and enriching. This will improve our agricultural practices, reduce costs, and achieve better yields and harvests. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
The training featured hours of lectures and hours of practicals in the fields, and participants received training materials to guide them on their journeys.

Mrs. Abiodun Essiet, the Senior Special Assistant on Community Engagement (North Central) to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recently visited the Tukum community in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State to inspect the collapsed bridge connecting Shendam and Langtang North Local Government Areas. The collapse of the bridge has severely affected the movement of people, goods, and services between the two LGAs, causing significant disruptions in daily activities.
During her visit, Mrs. Essiet expressed the Federal Government’s concern over the situation, stating that the collapse of the bridge was not just an infrastructural failure but a threat to the socio-economic well-being of the residents. She emphasized that the bridge played a vital role in linking the two local governments and facilitating trade, agriculture, and other economic activities that sustain the livelihoods of the people.
She assured the residents that President Tinubu’s administration is prioritizing infrastructure repairs and development across the nation. “The Federal Government is aware of the hardship this collapse has caused,” she said. “Restoring this bridge is crucial for reconnecting Shendam and Langtang North and reviving the flow of goods and services. We are committed to addressing this issue promptly.”
In addition to the collapsed Shendam-Langtang bridge, Mrs. Essiet also inspected the Longvel bridge, which is located along Shendam Road and serves as a major route connecting Plateau State to Taraba State. She stressed the strategic importance of the Longvel bridge, noting that it is a lifeline for the people of Plateau and Taraba who rely on it for transportation, trade, and cross-border interactions. She expressed the government’s resolve to ensure that both bridges are fully rehabilitated.
“The Longvel bridge is critical not only for the people of Shendam but for the entire region, as it links Plateau with Taraba State. We understand that this bridge supports economic activities between the two states, and the Federal Government will ensure that repairs are carried out swiftly,” Mrs. Essiet stated during her visit to the site.
Mrs. Essiet further highlighted the importance of community engagement, urging the residents of both Shendam and Langtang North to remain patient and continue to collaborate with local authorities while the government works to address their concerns. She pointed out that infrastructure development is a key pillar of President Tinubu’s administration, and rural communities like Tukum would not be left behind in the government’s plans.
The Executive Chairman of Shendam LGA, Hon. Nicholas Nshe Kemi who was represented by His deputy, Hon. Kwan expressed his appreciation to Mrs. Essiet for her visit and the Federal Government’s attention to their plight. He explained how the collapse of the Shendam-Langtang bridge had isolated their communities, disrupting the transportation of farm produce and essential goods. They appealed for the swift commencement of repairs to prevent further losses.
In response to his concerns, Mrs. Essiet assured the community that the Federal Government would expedite the process of mobilizing resources for the repair of the bridges. She stated that engineers and construction teams would soon be deployed to the sites to begin the necessary work, and that the government was committed to finding long-term solutions for the community infrastructure challenges.
Furthermore, she emphasized that the Tinubu administration was dedicated to building resilient infrastructure that would stand the test of time. She mentioned that proper assessments would be carried out to ensure that the new structures are durable and capable of withstanding future challenges, adding that the safety and well-being of the people were of utmost importance to the government.
