Jesse Jagz Stands Tall as One of Nigeria’s Most Original Artists

    0

In Nigeria’s ever-evolving music industry, Jesse Jagz has remained one of the few artists who refuse to follow trends. Known as the “Emperor of Jagz Nation,” he has built a legacy rooted in originality, creativity, and fearless experimentation. His artistry has set him apart as one of Nigeria’s most unique voices.

    A Creative Force From J-Town

Hailing from Jos, Plateau State, Jesse Jagz rose to prominence as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer. From his early years, it was clear that he was not content with simply making music for entertainment. Instead, he sought to bend genres, explore sounds, and create art that would leave a lasting mark on listeners.

    Genre-Bending Sounds

Jesse’s music is a fusion of hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, and Afro-fusion. But what makes his sound extraordinary is the way he blends these elements into a deeply expressive and experimental style. His projects are not just albums; they are journeys through soundscapes that challenge conventional expectations in Nigerian music.

    Music With Meaning

At the core of Jesse Jagz’s songs lies depth and consciousness. His lyrics often explore spirituality, African identity, and social commentary. He has never shied away from addressing real issues in his music, making him an uncompromising artist whose work resonates far beyond the dance floor.

    The Producer’s Touch

Aside from being a performer, Jesse is widely celebrated for his production skills. His beats are layered with innovation, often pushing the boundaries of what Nigerian hip-hop and Afro-fusion can sound like. This mastery has drawn comparisons with global icons, underscoring his status as a visionary artist.

    A Rebel With Legacy

Jesse’s career has been marked by bold decisions, from leaving major labels to founding Jagz Nation. These choices reflect his desire to remain authentic and in control of his craft. Though unconventional, his rebellious spirit has only strengthened his reputation as a true original.

    Standing Tall in Nigerian Music

More than a decade into his career, Jesse Jagz remains an inspiration to artists and fans alike. His unmatched creativity, fearless independence, and ability to reinvent himself have ensured his place in history as one of Nigeria’s most original musicians.

Plateau Youth, Influencers Champion Religious Harmony Both Online and Offline

    0

Plateau youth and influencers are taking the lead in promoting religious harmony by creating safe spaces for dialogue and understanding, both online and offline, to strengthen peaceful coexistence across communities.

In his welcome address, Kaura Joshua, Project Officer of the Youth CARE Project, stressed the need for people to broaden their understanding of religion beyond Christianity and Islam. He pointed out that there are over 4,200 religions worldwide, a fact many are unaware of, and emphasized that such knowledge is vital in building tolerance and respect.

Joshua added that religion should not only be seen as a means of worship but also as a tool for peace and unity. He urged participants to use the dialogue for internal reflection and inter-religious thinking, embracing diversity as a path to peaceful coexistence.

Given an overview of the theme, “Bridging the Faith Divide – Online & Offline,” Blessing Dodo, Team Lead for Plateau Micro-influencers, noted that misinformation and bias online often fuel division when people share content based on sentiments tied to their faith without verifying the facts. She warned that such narratives can easily escalate into real life crises.

She explained that the program seeks to promote dialogue, respect, and tolerance among different faiths. Dodo urged participants to commit to peace both online and offline, stressing that unity and understanding are key to countering hate and violence.

Kenneth Dakop, Team Lead on Strategic Communication at the Plateau State Peace Building Agency, delivered a keynote on “Unity as Everyday Practice” under Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB). He stressed that freedom of religion must go hand in hand with tolerance and responsibility.

He cautioned against preaching religious superiority, noting it divides communities. Dakop urged youths to respect all faiths, including African traditional religions, and advised that religious leaders should undergo peacebuilding and conflict-sensitivity training before being licensed.

Dakop also warned that unregulated sermons can incite violence. He called for government oversight of religious messages and encouraged young people to embrace education, empowerment, and commerce as everyday tools for unity.

Godwin Okoko, Head of Programme Implementation at Search for Common Ground, noted that while religion is often used to fuel conflicts, the real causes lie in ethnicity, land, and history. He urged young people to rise above these divides and use their voices to promote peace, tolerance, and unity.

The event featured a panel discussion on “Bridging the Faith Divide – Online & Offline” which brought together Salis Mohammad Abdulsalam, Stephen Zuma Jang, Ada Ohaba, and Hamza Yakubu, who shared insights on promoting tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence through both social media and community engagement.

Participants said they would take the lessons back to their communities, with Assumpta Chidera stressing the need to show love rather than mere tolerance, respect others’ beliefs, and avoid spreading false news online, while Ibrahim Aliyu Ibni-Salihu emphasized that peace is vital for unity and development and urged everyone to contribute to sustaining it.

Nentok Israel Mallah, a youth leader from Federal Low Cost, said he learned the importance of loving and understanding people of other faiths rather than just tolerating them and promised to share the message of peace with his community, while Maryam Ibrahim noted that the training taught her the value of religious integration, humanity, and peaceful coexistence, which she is committed to practicing and passing on to others.

Bagos Gets Massive Endorsement from Northern Zone Youths for Senate

    0
Youths from across the six local governments of Plateau North Senatorial Zone have called on Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos to contest for the Senate seat in the 2027 general elections. In a unanimous resolution, the youths adopted the former member of the Federal House of Representatives, who represented Jos South/Jos East constituency, as their sole candidate. They said his track record at the National Assembly has placed him ahead of other aspirants for the position. According to the statement, the youths outlined Bagos’s interventions in education, youth empowerment, women development, and other sectors as the reasons behind their adoption. “Because vision resonates with the aspirations of youths in the Northern Zone,” the statement read. The youths further pledged to return to their various communities and electoral wards to mobilize wider support for both Hon. Bagos and the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. “Bagos has our unwavering support and dedication to the movement,” they declared. In his response, Hon. Bagos expressed gratitude, saying, “I will not fail you. Elect leaders that deliver the dividends of leadership as the one being exhibited by our leader and governor, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.” He also urged the youths to continue supporting the governor, noting, “See that you support His Excellency, the Governor, to continue with his laudable and impactful leadership of providing people of Plateau State with what they need.” The event also featured a panel discussion on the progress of Plateau North Senatorial District and music performances by different artists.

Internet Fraudsters Fund Many Nigerian Artists – M.I Claims

    0

Veteran rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I Abaga, has claimed that internet fraudsters fund a significant portion of the Nigerian music industry.

According to him, it is an indictment on Nigeria as a nation that most of the funding of the country’s music industry comes from the West and from fraudsters.

He insisted that Nigeria needs to do better in terms of funding for the creative industry.

M.I featured as a guest in a recent episode of the ‘So Nigerian’ podcast.

“There are a lot of controversies when people talk about Yahoo Yahoo, because a lot of artists that is the funding that they have. What I’m trying to say is that it’s an indictment on our country that we have such talented musicians and that the major funding for the industry comes from the West and the fraud industry. It’s an indictment. It shows that something is wrong. Hopefully, we can do better,” he said.

The rapper urged wealthy Nigerians to step up and fund the country’s musical talents, stressing that young people are currently the only ones supporting other young people financially in the Nigerian music industry.

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered three locally made firearms and ammunition in separate operations.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, in a statement on Wednesday, said the arrests were made as part of the Command’s ongoing crackdown on crime across the state.

According to the statement, on August 4, 2025, officers from Kaduna-Vom Division, while on a stop-and-search operation at about 9:00 p.m., arrested 24-year-old Mark Ibrahim Dalyop of Sabon Layi, Kuru. He was reportedly found in possession of two locally made rifles while riding a motorcycle from Vom to Kuru.

In a separate incident, detectives from the Nassarawa Gwong Division, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended Moses Aliyu, 26, of Fwave Chiki, Rayfield, Jos, on August 11, 2025. The suspect was arrested in an uncompleted building at Kwanga, where police recovered a locally fabricated revolver pistol and one 0.9mm live ammunition from him.

The police said both suspects are being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.

Turu A & B Wards Unite in Support of Hon. Bagos for Senate 2027

    0

Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos’ political movement gained new momentum over the weekend as Turu A and B Wards declared their support for his Plateau North Senatorial ambition in 2027.

In the past two months, Chugwi Ward was the first to openly endorse Bagos, followed by Vwang Ward, his hometown, where residents showed overwhelming love for his leadership.

The endorsement reached new heights this weekend when Turu A and B Wards hosted a historic rally. The event attracted a massive crowd, with people travelling from far and near to show solidarity.

Delegations also came from neighbouring Riyom Local Government Area, which shares boundaries with Turu in Vwang. The atmosphere was filled with unity, enthusiasm, and hope for a brighter future under Bagos’ leadership.

Hon. Dachung Mwanta, Chairman of the Development Association of Turu, Vwang, and convener of the Vwang District movement, urged the people to give Bagos the Senate mandate. He praised Bagos’ track record in delivering impactful projects and promised more inclusive development ahead.

Former PDP Chairman of Jos South LGA, Hon. Dung Tari, also declared his full support for Bagos, describing him as a leader the people can trust.

Hon. Da Dauda Vwangdung, Chairman of Vwang District Stakeholders, pledged to mobilize grassroots support, ensuring that Bagos’ victory in 2027 would be overwhelming.

Other respected leaders, including Hon. Da Daches, also called for continuity, stability, and people-centred governance.

From Chugwi to Vwang, from Turu to Riyom, the message was the same—residents stand united behind Bagos.

Supporters say this movement is more than one man’s ambition; it is a collective vision for growth, unity, and development that will leave no community behind.

Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation Brings Relief to Riyom IDP Camp with Medical Outreach, Food Items and Advocacy

    0

Following a series of deadly attacks in Riyom communities that displaced many residents, the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation has extended humanitarian support to victims at the Riyom IDP Camp, located in the Riyom Community Hall.

The foundation’s intervention included a medical outreach to address urgent health needs, as well as advocacy sessions aimed at giving displaced persons a voice and hope for recovery. Relief materials such as rice, maize, sanitary pads, and clothes were distributed, alongside free barbing and hair-making services for the IDPs.

According to Alpha Ezekiel Dahi, Programme Manager for the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation, the visit to the Riyom IDP Camp was prompted by urgent needs observed during an earlier visit by Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos. The poor state of the camp and the lack of basic welfare inspired a joint effort with the Foundation to provide relief and medical support.

He explained that the outreach included cleaning and sanitizing the camp in partnership with the Plateau State Environmental Protection Agency (PEPSA), alongside providing medical services. The team also distributed the relief materials, and offered free barbing and hairdressing services to the displaced persons.

Dahi noted that the supplies may not last beyond two weeks due to the camp’s large population. He called on the government, individuals, and organizations to step in, stressing that even one square meal a day would make a significant difference for the IDPs.

Da Gwom Rwei of Riyom, HRH Da Sam Jok, commended the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation for its humanitarian gesture in supporting the IDPs. He said the donation was a thoughtful act that would bring relief to many in need and called on other stakeholders to also extend similar assistance to the victims.

The traditional ruler received the relief materials on behalf of the beneficiaries and formally handed them over to the IDP camp officials for distribution.

During the outreach, Dr. Dalyop Mwantiyi from the Department of Public Safety and Health Services praised Hon. Dachung Bagos for organizing the program to assist IDPs with their health needs. He said the initiative was a timely effort to improve the well-being of displaced persons.

He observed that many elderly people suffer from hypertension, while children are mostly affected by malaria. Middle-aged individuals often have peptic ulcer disease, and some children showed signs of malnutrition. The team provided drugs including anti-hypertensives, anti-malaria medication, antibiotics, and ulcer kits.

Also, Nrs. Fidelis Teyei Jennifer shared that many health issues stem from lack of adequate food, as some patients’ conditions were worsened by poor nutrition. She called on stakeholders across Plateau State to support displaced communities, noting that many are unaware of the severity of their own health challenges.

Nigerian Red Cross volunteer Chundung Dauda Dyek thanked the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation for supporting Riyom IDP camp, saying the gesture shows true concern for the displaced and noting that such help from donors, groups, and agencies like SEMA is vital in addressing camp needs.

IDP Ngo Esther Ibrahim appreciated the Dachung Musa Bagos Foundation for supporting them for the second time, praying for God to open more doors for Hon. Bagos and grant his desires. She appealed for the foundation to keep assisting them and pleaded for help in securing a place to live.

This gesture brought much-needed comfort to the affected families, many of whom are still struggling to rebuild their lives after the violence.
