The Executive Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Council, Hon. Felix Amos Gonung identifies with Nigerian children on the occasion of the 2025 International Children’s Day. Children’s day is a commemorative date celebrated annually in honour of children whose date of observance varies by country. In was in Geneva during the World’s Conference on Child Welfare in 1925 that the International Children’s Day was first proclaimed. In Nigeria, every 25th May is marked as the Children’s Day and it is usually characterized by observing Public Holiday and Celebrations.
While he felicitates with the Nigerian children, Hon. Gonung admonished the Children to remain focused and determined to succeed. He stated that, “the theme for the 2025 International Children’s Day which is ‘Look Up’ reminds us of the importance for our children to remain focused in order to attain their purpose in life.” He further emphasised that, “the theme encourages children and young people to focus on positive aspects of life including faith and helping others, while avoiding distractions that pull them down.”
The Executive Chairman’s message to the children globally underscores his undiluted resolve to promote and protect child’s rights and like previous years, the World’s Children’s Day 2025 is a reminder on the need to address challenges children face globally.
In his particular message to Children of Pankshin Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman stated that, “Today is a celebration of the brightest stars among us- our children! Each of you brings a unique spark of joy, curiosity, and creativity into the world. Our children are the messages we send to the future and we cannot afford to be judged by posterity as being careless or unmindful of the potentials we once had opportunity to uphold, project and and protect. I wish to tell you categorically that limitation is only in the mind, therefore, there’s nothing you can not achieve only if you free your minds and dare the impossibilities.
