In a landmark gathering at the College of Health Zawan, Plateau State, the Coalition of Plateau State Students Leaders, representing over 3.1 million students, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and the Rector of Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi, Dr. Clement Chirman. This commendation stems from both leaders’ significant contributions to education and student welfare in Plateau State.
The student leaders, representing various associations and unions across the state, lauded Governor Mutfwang for his transformative efforts in the education sector. These efforts include a substantial increase in scholarship disbursement, the procurement of tractors for agricultural education, and the accreditation of additional courses in state-owned institutions. Most notably, the coalition praised the governor for his 50% reduction in tuition fees, a timely palliative measure in response to current economic challenges, as well as the provision of transportation support during festive periods.
“Governor Mutfwang has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the educational and social well-being of students across Plateau State. His administration’s initiatives not only provide financial relief but also ensure the security and growth of our institutions,” the communique stated.
The forum further applauded the governor’s efforts in enhancing security at Plateau State University (PLASU), creating a safer academic environment. Additionally, his administration’s dedication to promoting peace and unity within the students’ community was highlighted as a key factor in fostering harmony across the state.
On the Plateau State Polytechnic front, Dr. Clement Chirman’s leadership was equally celebrated. Under his stewardship, the institution has witnessed remarkable improvements, including the construction of a new administrative block, the renovation of key facilities such as the Joshua Dariye Hall and Twin Theater, and significant enhancements in student relations and security measures.
“Dr. Chirman has brought a fresh wave of progress to Plateau State Polytechnic, creating an environment conducive to both academic excellence and student well-being. His leadership has been pivotal in addressing the needs of both staff and students, and we are confident in his continued dedication to the institution’s growth,” the student leaders affirmed.
The coalition, consisting of National Association of Plateau State Students (NAPSS), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), and other student bodies, called on all stakeholders to support the Rector and the Plateau Polytechnic management as they continue on this path of progress.
The communique concluded with a firm expression of confidence in both Governor Mutfwang and Dr. Chirman, recognizing their transformative leadership as a beacon of hope for the future of education in Plateau State.
