On Tuesday June 25th 2022, a delegation led by the General Manager, Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, went to take possession of a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 70 double cabin pick-up truck (Buffalo), for use at Jos wildlife Park, from Plateau State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACreSAL).
Mr. Garba Gonkol, Plateau State Coordinator, ACReSAL, while handing over the vehicle pointed out that during the organisation’s prior interactions with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, he had insisted that ACReSAL should prioritize Jos Wildlife Park in her line up of intervention projects in the state.
Hon. Chuwang Pwajok, who accepted the vehicle on behalf of the corporation, praised the government and ACReSAL for their timely interventions at the facility, and noted that the unfortunate story of the park’s poor conditions is quickly transforming into a positive situation.
“The staff of the corporation and indeed the park will bear witness with me that the park has not received such kinds of interventions in the past. With the coming onboard of this administration and ACReSAL, Jos Wildlife Park has not remained the same again,” he said.
He assured ACReSAL that they would closely monitor the usage of the vehicle to ensure that it is used only for its designated purpose.
Pwajok subsequently informed journalists that the State Government is presently taking steps to tackle unlawful activities at the Jos Wildlife Park and enhance its security, through collaboration with appropriate security agencies within the state.
According to him, plans are in top gear for the facility to be surrounded by a 17-kilometer fence.
Hon. Peter Kanang-Gwom, who is the Plateau State Commissioner for Environment, Climate Change, Mineral Development and also the Chairman of the State Steering Committee (SSC), was responsible for presenting the vehicle to the Corporation.
